Is this an aborted pterosaur egg?

Let’s start 2014 off with a new year baby—one that may have been overlooked for 75 years. It has no shell. It has no bones. It just has a shape.

Some wing membrane impressions are visible. Most other matrix faults are depressions.  This specimen has been known for several decades, first described by Koh 1937. An odd elliptical blob of matrix appears just aft of the pelvis of the CM 11427 (No. 59 of the Wellnhofer 1975 catalog) specimen of Rhamphorhynchus. This specimen has been known for several decades, first described by Koh 1937. Although composed entirely of matrix, this blob is the right shape and size for an aborted and immature egg or amniotic sac without a shell. Greater resolution is necessary to add further comment.

It could be just a perfectly elliptical blob of matrix. Or it could be worth a closer look.
